To Our Valued Great Lakes Bay Marathons Event Participants:

After recent discussions with our lead sponsors and important focus groups that provided input from runners across the region, the Great Lakes Bay Regional Trail (GLBRT) has decided to suspend our Great Lakes Bay Marathons events that were part of the Dow Weekend of Races based in Midland, for the immediate future. The GLBRT will consider offering our marathons, half marathon and marathon relay again in the future on our trail system connecting Bay City, Saginaw, Freeland, and Midland as they further develop. In the meantime, the GLBRT organization will still organize races, events and activities that promote wellness and the use of our varied non-motorized paths in the region --- and we welcome your input as to design, location and timing. The Greater Midland Community Center will continue to host the Dow RunWalk on May 21, 2016. This 5K, 10K and 1 mile event continues to be a mainstay event in the region, providing runners and walkers with excellent opportunities to support healthy lifestyle initiatives throughout our communities.

The overall mission of the GLBRT is to connect the regional trail system promoting a sense of place, healthy living, protection of our natural resources, and tourism. Your past participation in our marathon events along with the generous support of our sponsors has benefited our trails greatly as we strive to both develop trails and build an endowment for maintenance costs. We hope you will help us continue to promote awareness of our amazing trails and participate in our events in the future. Together, we can make our trail mission a reality and help promote wellness across the region.

Thanks again for supporting trails in our region!

Great Lakes Bay Regional Trails Board of Directors
